  • New room, New kitchen

Hi, I've asked similar before but I need to describe it better. I would like to know a rough estimate in time & money, that it would be to relocate the kitchen from the back of the house into the current living room at the front of the house. Plumbing for a sink, washing machine & dishwasher are required. Electric sockets, electric cooker socket & installed & new lighting. The carcasses of the cupboards that are salvageable can be re-used but would like new worktops & cupboard doors. A radiator needs removing & tiles for the wall space between the worktop & top cupboards would be needed. Obviously I know it'd be an estimate without exact measurements for pricing. There are no walls to knock down, nor is it a listed building. There is a manhole out the front of the house . The boiler can stay where it is. It's a 3bed semi-detached house & basically want to swap the rooms to meet our needs. Appreciate your time answering my question, thank you.

Is it cheaper to extend externally or reconfigure the internal structure?

We are extending to the side of our property. We have the option of either having a larger extension OR a smaller extension but reconfiguring a couple of load bearing walls in order to create the layout we need. Obviously we want to make sure we can afford this before we submit planning permission. Generally speaking, which is likely to be the cheaper option?

Can I have a two storey side extension?

Hi, I just wanted to know if it's realistic to be able to do and get a double storey side extension on this house. There is an alley next to the boundary, which I thought might help our case going close to the boundary. https://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/58377411/

Checking quality and standard of new-build homes

We've heard lots of scare stories about new-build homes not being built to good standards. What should we be looking out for and what questions should we be asking before we part with any money?
