  • Advance payments

Hi, I have been asked for a 50% deposit up front before work to be started on a new bathroom. It is 50% of the cost of materials and 50% of the cost of labour. If the work wasn't up to standard I'm guessing they could argue that the products are not mine and take them away unless I pay for the labour if it's not up to standard. Is this right? I feel like I won't be covered if anything goes wrong with the work. I asked for a contract and was told they don't have contracts but I can take their emails as a contract instead. They have stated they will complete the work by the date they have given me. Should I be worried?

Why is my shower not hot?

Our electric shower is producing water that is not very hot, even on the hottest setting… what might be the reason for this? It used to run much hotter… sometimes when we switch to high power it gets a bit hotter initially but then levels out again…

Getting a nice finish on bathroom sealant

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to get bathroom sealant looking nice? I was taught to do it with a wet finger but there must be a better way of doing it so that it looks better? Are there any tools out there for the job?

cost of upgrading and fitting a new bathroom on a budget

I would like to have my bathroom completely upgraded. It's fairly old and worn at this stage but given the ongoing Covid-19 situation, I don't want to be spending too much. How can I have a new bathroom fitted on a budget? And how cheap could the installation be?

Box room into toilet with small sink

I have a 3 bed cottage in Goodwick, West Wales. We don't have a toilet upstairs, but do have a small 2m square box room that I'd like to have converted. Would be needing a toilet, sink and the tile work, plumbing etc. I was wondering roughly what to budget from a basic conversion?
