Carpet Underlay

I have old underlay that appears to be in ok condition. Is it a good idea to lay new underlay on top for extra cushioning?

"Personally I’d recommend removing the old underlay and starting a fresh.
But a good quality underlay and you’ll be better off"

"It's generally not recommended to lay new underlay on top of old underlay. It can affect the stability and performance of the flooring. It's best to remove the old and replace it with a new one for better cushioning and support."

"In my opinion if the old underlayer is in good condition then adding new one would be counterproductive. If you do decide to lay new underlay make sure that it is joined to the original underlay properly as it may cause you problems"

"No is not a good idea to lay a new under lay on top an another under lay. Yes, you can do that but it's gonna be to soft underneath your foot. The idea is if there are 2 layers of tine underlay, yes that is ok"
