As title says, can I paint over wallpaper or does it need stripping first?

"Hi,
Yeah painting over wallpaper is fine as long as the wallpaper is well stuck down. If you are painting over vinyl paper however it would need to have some form or undercoat or primer beforehand.
Hope this helps, Dean."

"You can paint over wallpaper but in time it will fall off due to the weight I would recommend stripping it first"

"Hi, if the wallpaper is not ripped and in decent condition, then yes you can."

"Yes ,no problem, but make sure it's not loose anywhere.
Any loose bits can be re attached by using PVA Wood glue.
If the wall paper is heavily embossed or a strong
Colour it will need several coats

"It's always best to strip the paper but if that's not possible use valspar v700 you can get this any colour you like but that's the brand to use if you do want to paint over the paper with minimum effort and coats"

"Hi Lou as a professional I would always suggest on taking the paper off. You can paint over blown vinyl paper which as designed to be painted on but if it’s a finish paper then the pattern may come through and you may also find that the paper lifts off with the paint."
