Can I install a pond in my front garden?

Will I be allowed to install a pond in my front garden? Would I need special approval for this such as in relation to building regulations or/and planning permission?

The creation of a pond by machinery is considered an engineering operation under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (as amended). Even if your proposed pond will be small and shallow, the excavation of a pond may be defined as an engineering operation which may require planning permission.

No you do not need planing permission if you own the property if it’s rented then I recommend getting the owners permission first
