Can exterior door open above sill?

Hi Everyone,

I have a door in an odd size: 205cm height by 73cm width. I can't find any pre-made doors in that size, and hand-made is getting out of budget.

The door closes inwards in front of a concrete sill. If the door closed above the sill, it could measure 197cm high instead, which would mean pre-made doors are available.

Does this cause problems?

Thank you for any answers,
Edwin

"Hi Edwin, where are you located buddy(rough area? You could get add on to go underneath the new plastic cil to raise the door but i really would recommend a professional to do it. Add on comes in multiple sizes, 20mm, 50mm, 100mm etc. So you should be able to get something sorted."

"Good Afternoon, If this is for your home then you should purchase a made to measure. Supply only this should start from £375 so I'm guessing that would be around the price of a B&Q off the shelf door.

If your new door sat on a 30mm sill then I'm guessing this would be enough to clear. You would need/want to sit a new door on a sill or the warranty probably wouldn't be honoured as new doors allow water/moisture to travel through them and drain from the bottom.

Any questions please reach out."
