Best lock for wooden barn style door
Our cottage has a wooden barn style door at the back which I want to keep but it could do with a proper lock. It just has a slide bolt at the moment. What's best to fit on this type of door?

"British standard sash lock on the top opening leaf and a British standard dead lock on the lower one"

"You could install a British Standard Sashlock at the top and a British Standard Deadlock at the bottom..
Aswell as a couple of bolts top middle and bottom.
If you use a professional locksmith they would be able to key alike both locks so you don't have two different keys."

"Hi
Personally I would put a 5 lever sash lock in the top half and a 5 lever dead bolt in the bottom half keyed alike so both locks operate on the same key. Chubb lock are robust slightly more expensive than other brand most owned by the same company.
All will depend on the door are there existing holes to fill, is it rebated and what backset is required and the type of handle/door furniture/ finnish you wish to fit.
All the above can be searched to show you what the terminology means."
