As a specialist tiler, in my years of experience working with travertine, there is no best brand to purchase from... Travertine is a natural product and one that is naturally brittle and porous. The best option when purchasing Travertine is to select a travertine tile that is filled, polished and honed. This means that the surface will be filled with a similar shaded resin or composite, creating a smooth surface which is then polished to varying degrees. Honed travertine simply means that they have been cut to a uniform thickness with maybe a maximum variance of 1-2mm difference on the thickness. All Travertine will still need to be sealed as well. Price or brand isn't always the best  quality material! Hope this helps and you find what you're looking for!
