"Metal stud work provides a very lightweight solution, but you’ll probably find most tradespeople are more comfortable with traditional timber stud - which is also available from any merchants.

Timber will also feel more solid than typical internal metal stud.

Costs for labour would probably want a site visit or at least some photos to be determined.

Hope that helps."

"Splitting a bedroom is pretty straightforward. Your ideally want a stud (vertical piece) every 400mm. Then noggins (horizontal pieces between studs) at 1200mm from floor to centre. With a full length piece top and bottom.
Metal is good but it’s best to use OSB3 over it then plasterboard. With wood you only need plasterboard but wood is more expensive. So draw it on paper and figure out what you need to do it. Then price up each option."

"I would employ a professional to do this as you will need a stud wall (preferably timber, as plasters will charge more to install boards on metal frame as well as a horrible metallic rattle when you close the door ). You will need a door lining installed into the framework before boarding with plasterboard. Then skim with plaster. Next the architrave will need to be installed and then skirting. Finally your door will need to be swung and the wall painted or wallpapered."
