Will I need to have some design ideas in mind before having a bathroom renovated by professionals or do most deal with the design aspect as well?

Always best to have some idea what you’re wanting before starting to get stuck in!! 
Also it depends on where the pipework is situated as sometimes it’s more hassle and expense to move the fittings around.
It’s all down to pricing really,deep pockets anything can be achieved.

I don’t know about other professionals, but that is something that i would generally do. In my experience most people want me to do the layout drawings to scale to see what options are possible
