Bathroom renovation costs?

Hi all, 
I've just bought my first house and the bathroom is in great need of renovations.

Theoretically, it's an old bathroom that needs a basic renovation. Basic taps, shower/bath, basin+pedastal etc everything in same place. No Plastering needed, no paint needed lino floor, pvc plastic 4 sheets needed. No fancy stuff  or extras.

My cheapest quote was £7,500 i got from bathroom businesses and it's over budget for me. I'm thinking about doing part of it myself, or contacting a sole trader. 

Could anyone give me a rough idea of how much that would cost? It's a small bathroom that literally only just about fits that stuff, very narrow.

Hi Lauren,

It all depends how old all the plumbing, electric, and walls are. 
As if you was just to change a couple of bit, ie toilet etc then a lot of people won’t guarantee as they are going onto old plumbing and electrics if your changing switches or lights.

Was the £7,500 without materials?

HI pal, i have been doing bathrooms over 3 years  and to be honest with you, £07500, the quote that you got is way to much. I get 25% off from a tile shop and £763 there is no chance i will ever quote my client for a bathroom £381 that doesn't needs extra stuff doing £7,500. He is trying to rip you off.  
I reckon £5000 or even cheaper  depending on how fancy you choose the style and who you get to fit it for ya 
i will 100% do a 10/10 job and for a cheaper price.

  I would assume that quotes you already have are for supply and fit of reasonably good quality goods . Providing the replacement items are in the same place and the existing plumbing and electrics are in reasonable condition I would expect I could at a better price , but I would need to see exactly what is required first  .

I personally think £7500 would be far to expensive. Based on what you've described. 
Although personally I'd rather plaster the room and decorate. But even with included In I would expect my costs to be somewhere between £4-5000.

Hi, Cutting the cost is possible, but it will be not half. If you do some work yourself, you will save money. But the rest of the work will cost you more when other professionals continue it than they will do from scratch. Why? If one professional will do a whole project, he will calculate it as cheaper. Ultimately, you will be involved in work where quality can be worse, and you will still need to pay over £6k. Please consider changes or repairs by working on it yourself. Is it worth it?

I think you should be look to pay about 4000 , you will always pay more going through company ,solo trader has less over head usually
