Bathroom Refurb

We are re doing our ensuite and will be having a freestanding bath, is it best to tile before the fit of the bath? Also do we need to put anything down before tiling, currently there is ply board.

"Ideally its better to fit the tiles before the bath. Regarding the floor to fit the tiles on the wooden floor, we will have to prepare it with adequate material because if we were to fit the tiles directly on the wood you'll have problems such as the tiles lifting in the future.

Thanks!

"Yes it's best to tile the floor beforehand. As long as we have access to all pipes and they are in the correct position for the bath. As regards to the ply this should be fine as long as there is no movement in it."

"Absolutely necessary is laying durabase or ditrat on playwood and tiling all floor in perfect level to good preparation for free standing bath."

"As a tiler with years experience I suggest first tiling then inserting the bath.
The floor first needs to install jackoboards then flex adhesive for tiling
Thanks"

"Best to tile the whole bathroom before fitting is done, on the floor you need to install tile backboard or Ditra mat prior to tiling"

"You need to take up plywood and put down cement boards with ultra strong silicone and screws plus tile floor before fitting the bath."

"The ply subfloor is fine to tile on and it would be recommended to tile the full floor before you position the bath. Would make the job alot easier for the tiler."

"Yes it’s definitely best to tile before the bath goes in and also the ply board is fine to tile onto as long as it’s flat, level and primed prior to laying tiles onto it."
