Bath shower mixer tap vs rear fed shower on the wall

Are deck mounted bath shower taps as good as the shower you would fit on a wall (not electric, normal taps)

Good water pressure, new build, so no issues with water normally.

I'm looking at thermostatic shower taps, but cannot decide of paying extra for a wall shower is worth the hassle, or would I get as good a shower if we simply get the tap replaced by a mixer tap.

Looking at Mira Atom or Aqualisa Midas deck mounted taps.

Vs

Mira atom wall shower, or Bristan thermostatic shower.

Thank you in advance!

"If the water pressure is good. Mira atom is the better then the others. It will do the job."

"Both options are ok if they are mains fed and pressure differential isnt an issue the your are simply deciding between them by ease of use and the overall look in the room."

"All things being equal, an independent thermostatic shower valve is the best option."

"Hiya. The inlet and outlet sizes are exactly the same so don't really effect pressure or flow.

Wall mounted looks a little nicer but that's the only advantage in my opinion"

"in my opinion its the same as having it fitted on the wall there is no difference in the plumbing and a lot cheaper than having your wall tiles taken off and all the work what goes into chasing walls and such."

"Hi, Aesthetically the deck mounted look a bit bulky but they’re basically the same thing only difference being the deck mounted thermostatic bath mixer has a spout to fill the bath. As with most things in life the more expensive the better but Bristan and Mira are both good brands. Seems pointless to so additional work to run pipes for the wall mounted unit. Save the money and spend it on a better deck mounted unit."

"Thermostatic bath shower mixers are equally as good as a shower and pressure will be the same as the shower"

"If your water pressure is adequate there is really no need to have a separate shower installed for the extra work that would be involved in the install you could either save the money or put it towards a high end thermostatic mixer bar for your bath taps / combined shower

Happy to help"

"Only if you use thermostatic controlled taps. Kind Regards Dave Lewis"

"Both use thermostatic cartridges and should perform similarly.

If you don’t currently have a wall mounted shower valve, usually it’s going to be cheaper to stick to the combination thermostatic shower taps.

You can buy a kit to connect a rainfall shower head to them if you like as well. So no difference!

Make sure you go for a good brand of tap like Bristan if it’s within budget."
