average cost for a rewire

I am purchasing a cottage which needs a full rewire.
Some sockets are on the skirtings, and I can see the wiring chased outside of the walls.

The cottage is 80SQM, and I would also require sockets to be added, and some light fixtures to be moved/added.

I am just questioning, on average how much this could possibly cost.

"It's hard to give an accurate answer as there are so many factors that can change how the job goes. Things like what's the material of the walls, floors and ceilings, how many points you need in each room, is the house furnished or empty. Does the house contain asbestos? Even the price of copper is a big factor as the price of cable changes regularly at the moment. The best advice I can give is to decide what you'd like in each room and then get 3 companies to quote for the same specs and that will give you a good idea of cost. Most companies will quote for free"

"Hi, if it's about 2-3 bedrooms, a decent price would be around 3 grand which should includes the fixtures. Though most electricians would start the price around 4- 5 grand."

"On average I would day between £3500-£5000.00 for a basic rewire on a 2/3 bed property. That would include 3 sockets per room, but would definitely advise on getting multiple quotes and definitely all should be coming to look at the job. If you need any help just let me know. Thanks luke"

"It would really depend on a couple of things,
How many rooms, in the cottage,
Exactly how many points would be required.
Saying that on average you would be between £2000/3000"

"There are many variables to this, such as type and number of fixtures, fabric of building, type of installation(surface or flush),geographical location(electricians in London are more expensive than electricians in Bolton), will the property be empty or inhabited, is the electrical company based locally, extent of enabling works and whether a full or partial rewire is required.
Most electricians offer free quotations, once you have access to the property get 3-5 quotes that will give you an idea.
As far as giving you an idea of cost for a surface mounted install with minimal circuits and low end accessories you would probably looking at around £3-4K and that could rise to £5-£8 for more circuits and more mid to high range accessories"
