All new but is cost right?

Hi
Have a 3 bed semi detached house in west Sussex, near Gatwick. Tv's aren't working properly in the bedrooms anymore and issues with buffering downstairs. Lots of cables on outside of house that I thought have needed looking at since I've been there.
Friend of friend came out to quote says need new ariel and there's a splitter in the loft with water regression, all needs re-doing with 3 new plates ? which I wasn't surprised at. £170 + VAT total cost £400-£500 ....
Is that about right???

"Generally new builds have all coax terminate in loft. On the aerial side of things no water should be in the system as it’s all inside.
Bedrooms not working tell me that no amplifier is fitted and any more than one/two tv outlets don’t have the sufficient dB (signal) to work

Always get 2-3 quotes before deciding."

"So buffering suggests you mean your data connections to TVs have a problem rather than the TV aerial. The Tv aerial gives you live channels your data, ethernet or WIFI gives smart services and catchup as well as streaming - These are essentially 2 separate systems. If you can view channels 1-5 for example fine your aerial is fine - If you cant watch BBC Iplayer or netflix without buffering then your broadband or WIFI is the likely culprit. Can you stream on your phones and smart devices without problems?
A TV Aerial up north would cost around £150 installed - if its a data issue then is your provider or an IT guy you need

Hope this helps"

"Yes the price is about right for the job.. it sounds like you need a new aerial with a new cable run to the splitter, new splitter or booster and maybe some new cabling to the points. New plates if existing are old."

"The price does seem a little high although I'd imagine location will count towards this somewhat but whilst in don't think it would ever need all of the above you were quoted for I did see you mentioned buffering so if this was the case (when say streaming netflix or prime or Disney etc ) then this would be more of a WiFi issue so just a little WiFi booster/ extender would likely sort this issue and usually cheap at around 13 to 15 pounds from Amazon etc such as tplink n300 or similar ... Although if it is just normal channels on all the TVs up and downstairs then this would likely be just the aeriel"

"That’s a standard price for all the works to be done professionally, as they will be removing the old cabling and installing the new which is definitely needed by the sounds of your troubles, I hope this helps 👍🏽"

"It all depends on the area to be honest. New aerial install to 3 points in Bristol would be between £250-£350"

"Hello Good afternoon

If we was quoting this work on the understanding what they have said is true, and depending on the age of existing cables and devices we would normally encourage you to go for a full new installation.

we would install a new wide band aerial- bracket-pole etc. including a booster or splitter which ever needed to maximize your RF signal. new cables and connectors , we don't, or really recommend the use of faceplate outlets as they reduce signal levels, but you would be advised and ultimately would your decision.

3 x bedroom points
1 x Livingroom point
1 x tv amp / booster
1 x aerial wide band
1 x pole / bracket / lashing
1 x ct100 cable
consumables

with out site visit bare in mind.

£650 -£950"
