Aging new blocks of stone

Is it possible to treat or rough up the face of stone blocks so they blend in with older blocks?

"You could use an old saw blade or a comb chisel. If you need to age the stone the old masons used mmilk or yoghurt and paint over the stone to encourage aging."

"Yes, depending on what stone it is. If it’s one of the softer porous limestones, it will absorb a colour and rough up quite easily. If it’s something harder like York, or granite, then it’s much more difficult."

"This is a common request from owners of stone properties, most stone can be aged, the most common sandstone can be treated with liquid weather available from builders merchants, you can apply various coats to darken and age."

"Yes, usually in the Stonemasonry Trade, we use Natural Yogurt! Hope this helps…"
